The Clarke Olympics are Here!

The week of April 18th – 23rd marks the annual Clarke Olympics: Clash of the Classes! Each class will go head-to-head in different events throughout the week to compete for the title of best class!

The week will start off with a Bake Off in the dining hall on Tuesday, April 19th from 7:30PM – 8:30PM. Participants can join as an individual or in a team of up to 3 members. Make sure to RSVP on the Source to sign up as a baker! Have a recipe you want to make so that the necessary ingredients can be supplied. The judges are looking for creativity, excellent presentation, and of course a delicious taste! Bakers report to the kitchen at 7pm; event begins for attendees and judges at 7:30pm.

Test your basketball skills in the next event on Wednesday, April 20th! This fun and fast-paced Trasheyball event will be held in the SAC from 5:00PM – 7:00PM. In this participate-as-you-can 1 vs. 1 competition, take on a competitor from another class and tally up overall wins for your class!

For day 3, it’s time to test your trivia knowledge! CANS is sponsoring a trivia night on April 21st from 7PM – 9PM in the SAC. Teams should include 5 individuals, and teams will compete against one another in various trivia questions game-show style. Teams of faculty/staff, and teams made up of any variation of students are allowed. Cost is $10 per team (or $2 a person) to compete. All money raised/donated during this event will be donated to a local mental health foundation.

Friday’s (April 22nd) event is Flag Football from 7PM-8PM at Burrows Field. Each class will be able to enter two teams of 8 with equal gender representation. The bracket will start off with Freshman vs. Freshman, Sophomore vs. Sophomore, Junior vs. Junior, and Senior vs. Senior to get the best class team going into the next round. Next, Freshman vs. Sophomores and Juniors vs. Seniors games will get us our best two teams for the final matchup. You won’t want to miss this fun and competitive game!

Finally, Saturday’s events are the grand finale of 2022 Clarke Olympics: Clash of the Classes! A sand volleyball tournament and cookout will take place from 3PM-6PM on the sand volleyball court and Lion’s Den patio. We’ll operate a tournament-style play as with the flag football competition. Teams of 6, with equal gender representation and no more than three collegiate volleyball players, will compete.

We’ll celebrate the end of the Clarke Olympics: Clash of the Classes with a cookout on the back lawn and Lion’s Den patio. Whether you’re there to compete, watch and cheer on friends, or just for the cookout – come on out and have a great time with us!

This week of events is sure to bring out some friendly competition and lots of fun for all who participate! If you’re not able to participate, come and show support for your fellow class members! Who do you think will win it all?
