There’s a new hangout spot in Dubuque for friends and families who want to enjoy various activities together. The Q Casino has launched a grand opening for its new entertainment center, the Island Social! This new arcade offers a mix of classic arcade games, virtual reality experiences, axe throwing, duckpin bowling, and an inviting atmosphere that promises nostalgia and fun.
On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, the Q Casino opened the Island Social to the public. The idea for this new arcade came from a desire to create an improved and updated addition to Chaplain Schmitt Island. This space is designed for all ages, accommodating diverse interests. With over 75 arcade games, bowling, and axe-throwing, it offers families and friends plenty of opportunities for fun. On the other side, there is a sports bar for adults 21+ to watch their favorite teams, sip drinks, and enjoy food. The goal behind these new attractions is to provide a place where children and grandparents—who may not be into casino gaming—can enjoy quality time together.
On Saturday, November 23, Clarke students and other groups got a sneak peek before the public opening. The event included two free hours of gaming, along with free passes for duckpin bowling and axe throwing. Additionally, food, snacks, and drinks were provided in a party room typically available for rent. The space is large, with a variety of games and plenty of room for multiple groups of visitors. Both bowling and axe throwing feature four double lanes, making them perfect for group entertainment. The cost for bowling is $40 per hour for a party of six, while axe throwing is $25 per person.
The design of these attractions is unique and visually appealing, creating a vibrant atmosphere for guests. The layout and choice of colors emphasize a fun and creative environment that captures attention as visitors walk in.
