Who will win the Clarke Awards 2025?

The 2024-25 Clarke University Annual Awards Nominations have been announced, and voting has been completed. This year the three awards that are being voted on are the John A. Miles Service Award, the Mabel A. Rooney Hoffman Award, and the Francis J. O’Connor Memorial Award. This year’s nominees range from athletes to club presidents and tutors.

The John A. Miles Service Award is presented to a freshman who has demonstrated academic diligence and energetic service during their first semester at Clarke. Faculty, administrators, and fellow freshmen vote on the recipient, who will receive a $1,000 stipend. Nominees who accepted the nomination completed a questionnaire detailing their involvement on and off campus, as well as personal accomplishments. This year’s nominees include:
Mariela Jimenez – Volunteer at the CUpboard
Allison Miller – Women’s Soccer Team Member
Luz Del Rosario Kwiatkowski Pérez – Crux Talks Host
Jenna Ulin – CSA Senator
Anthany Dean – Baseball Team Member
Jazz Daughtrey – Co-President of Mock Trial
Established in 1969, the Mabel A. Rooney Hoffman Award honors a junior who has demonstrated exceptional effort and interest in the classroom and has taken advantage of service opportunities within Clarke University. This year’s recipient will receive a $100 stipend. Voting for the award was open to juniors, faculty, and staff. The nominees for this year include:
Joseph Ward – Assistant Coach of the Men’s Soccer Team
Taryn Nolting – Women’s Volleyball Player
Danyel Rieck - Clarke Cast and Crew Member
Sophia Wilson – Clarke Cast and Crew president
Olivia Schafer – CANS Board Secretary
Sophia Morrison – Clarke Scholars Program Member
Sydney Herzmann – CSA Student Body President
Angela Rivas – Chemistry 110, 111, and 107 Tutor
Shane Jordan – Men’s Bowling Team Member
Abigail Prunty – CSA Junior Senate Representative
Paulo Simon – Hispanic Student Union President
Recognized as Clarke University’s most prestigious senior honor, the Francis J. O’Connor Memorial Award is presented to a student who exemplifies exceptional cooperation, generosity, kindness, leadership, and academic achievement. Faculty, staff, and senior class members vote on this award, which carries a $1,000 stipend for the recipient.

Sarah Pratt – Physical Science Club Treasurer
Emma Gant – Art History Tutor
Emily Trinkle – Cheer and Dance Team Captain
Hailey Huckstorf – Ceramic Club President
Jaden Voshell – Teachers for Tomorrow Member
Alexander Beard – Lacrosse and Golf Member
Eikichi Saito – Men’s Soccer Team Member
Morgan Catchur – Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete
McKenzie Nodolf – Scholars Program Co-President
Kainoa Gerard – Academic Resource Center Coach
All of the nominees added more detailed information in their acceptance forms. The chosen activities, teams and clubs of the nominees are just a fraction of the involvement on campus. The winners for these three awards will be announced at the Spring Honors Recognition Ceremony on May 2nd.
